A Beautiful Journey

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” St. Augustine used to say. Thankfully, I was lucky to enjoy a trip to the United Kingdom and read one more chapter, half a year ago. I was really excited to visit my best friend, who studies there, and learn about the culture, the architecture, the people, the life and, of course, the fashion of the UK.

On the way to Leeds
I stayed in the beautiful city of Leeds for almost two weeks. I think that two weeks are enough to visit everything in Leeds, but apparently I was wrong! But I’ve been to a lot of cool places! My first stop was the Leeds Art Gallery. We saw a wide variety of inspiring paintings and sculptures and, then, we enjoyed our coffee, tea and cupcakes in the Tiled Hall Café. Leeds City Museum is a wonderful place, too; I was lucky to catch the “King of Egypt” collection and many others that are housed in the museum! It was a surprise to see a Greek collection, as well.

Next stop, the Royal Armories Museum; a building of great architecture full of exciting weapon collection originated from different time periods. As we left the museum, we took a refreshing waterside walk by the Leeds Canal.

But, -let’s face it- the most revitalizing experience for a person interested in fashion is shopping, especially, in a foreign country! I’ve been to a lot of familiar stores like H&M, Zara and Marks&Spenser, but visited a lot of new ones, too. I was dazzled by Debenhams (where I bought my Fred Perry bag from), Harvey Nichols and the Victoria Quarter boutiques on Briggate.

I bought some t-shirts, some cool accessories (like my knight neckless or my rubber watch), trousers from TOPMAN (I fell in love with that brand), a great pair of TOMS shoes and a really comfortable pair of Birkestocks from Schuh. If you have the chance, you should visit the House of Fraser and TK Maxx, too.

I had a wonderful visit at Waterstones and stopped by Starbucks, Nero, Costa and Pret-a-Manger for coffee all the time! The Call Lane Bars and Pubs are suitable for a night-out with your mates!

It’s so fascinating how inspired you are by the buildings, museums, galleries, people, outfits etc., when you come back home; it’s almost like you can’t wait to embrace all the information and become a newer version of you! And remember...  “People travel to faraway places to watch, in fascination, the kind of people they ignore at home.” – Dagobert D. Runes

Great shots! I hope you had fun there!
