Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

It was in June, 2012, when H&M confirmed that their next must-have designer collaboration will be with Maison Martin Margiela. The news drew the attention of the fashion world and lead to a lot of articles. Later on, we’ll discover all the information you want to know and prepare you for Nov 15, when the collection hits 230 stores worldwide and the company’s online store!

"Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this radical collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces, [it] will be a great and memorable fashion moment", H&M's creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch said in her statement.
For their part, Maison Martin Margiela said... "We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all."

But first a few words about the avante-garde label... Maison Martin Margiela was founded in 1988 by the belgian designer Martin Margiela and the first collection was showcased in 1989. The brand has created some of the most influential and directional collections in the history of fashion and the designer was honored with some of his work being hosted in the world’s foremost museums. It’s definitely a brand that balances between art and fashion! Maison was bought by Diesel founder Renzo Russo in 2002.

On October 23, a unique launch experience took place in the 5 Beekman Street’s abandoned palace. The place was decorated with sculptures, photographs and video installations displaying the new collection by Daniel Arsham, Frederique Chauveaux and Noemie Goudal. There were NO models and the items were represented by the famous choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and her team, in a really special way! Fashion icons such as Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mena Suvari, Kanye West, Helena Christensen and Salma Blair were there to celebrate the launch of the MMM for H&M collection.

The 104 pieces -including women wear, menswear, accessories and footwear- are spanning 23 years since the Maison’s founding. Every item, coming for the Margiela archive, will have special tag to indicate the season from which is originated; all in H&M prices! I trully believe that real Margiela fans will be thrilled to acquire a historical creation of the brand, in a new re-designed way. The campaign, that is hosted in very important fashion magazines, was created by the famous British photographer and artist Sam Taylor Johnson.

I can’t wait to get in line for a Margiela!
